Michael Neuser has joined Gresham Smith’s healthcare market as a senior vice president, and will be the leader of a new program focused on projects in the federal healthcare system. Using his more than two decades of experience, Neuser will develop a core team of professionals dedicated to federal healthcare projects and build the firm’s portfolio, which includes two Department of Veterans Affairs’ Community-Based Outpatient Clinics in Lakeland, Florida and Hampton Roads, Virginia.

As a veteran of the United States Navy, Neuser has devoted his life to selfless service and now continues that mission through healthcare design. He has spent his career cultivating strategic partnerships, understanding the needs of clients and working on countless projects to enhance the quality of care offered by the Veterans Health Administration, including a national health clinic pilot project, a state-of-the-art integrated health center and new mental health and women’s clinics. He also spent time as vice president of population health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, further developing integrated health models of care.

Neuser is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation, he served for 20 years, highlighted by a Commanding Officer role leading a unit of 250 sailors and civil service professionals. Active in the industry, Neuser is a board member of the Society of American Military Engineers Huntsville post and an ongoing member of the Middle Tennessee chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

While Neuser was nominated to be an astronaut in 2006, his hobbies don’t include space exploration. Outside of work, he enjoys running, playing golf and traveling, all of which he hopes to do plenty more of in 2022.
