Tristate Masonry Institute Honors GBBN for Excellence in Masonry Design

Representatives from GBBN recently joined the Tristate Masonry Institute for its 2021 TMI Excellence in Masonry Design Awards ceremony.

A professional organization that provides educational support for masonry contractors, design professionals and education centers, each year the TMI celebrates the best in masonry design at its Excellence in Masonry Awards Banquet. GBBN’s Mercy Health Deerfield Medical Center was recognized for its design excellence this year.

The 26,400-square-foot ambulatory care center gives patients a warm, uplifting experience and creates a new prototype for Mercy Health’s growing system. Part of a $120-million, mixed-use development known as the District at Deerfield, Mercy’s new medical building houses primary and urgent care practices, as well as specialty physician practices for cardiology, women’s health and general surgery.

“From the outset, connecting to nature through daylight and views outside were design goals for both patient and staff experience,” says Aaron Anderson, part of GBBN’s design team on the project. “Together with Mercy, we were able to achieve the qualitative aspects they wanted for this project by making smart, creative, structural moves. Those decisions freed up resources for Mercy to enhance the patient experience in ways they hadn’t imagined.”
