BayCare South Florida Baptist Replacement Hospital Project Underway

BayCare South Florida Baptist Replacement Hospital project is underway in Plant City, Florida. The plan calls for building up to 150 private patient rooms with the ability to add another 30 when needed for future expansion. In addition, an 85,000-square-foot medical office building also is proposed at the new location, which will be convenient for both patients and physicians who prefer to work near the hospital. Cost of the project is approximately $326 million.

Barton Malow Builders was selected as the construction manager for the project. The scope of the engagement includes full preconstruction and construction management-at-risk services, such as multiple cost estimates, scheduling/logistics planning, value engineering and constructability analysis. The project is structured with a fast-track approach; and formal partnering is being utilized to maximize cohesion and effectiveness among the entire project team to deliver the project on-time and on-budget.

Construction is expected to take about 30 months to complete. Since a whole new hospital will be built, there will be no disruption to patients, physicians or staff at the current hospital.

HKS is serving as architect on the project.
