Andrew Mitchell, AIA, ACHA, has recently been elevated to principal at MKM architecture + design. Since joining MKM in 2009, Mitchell’s professional practice has focused on the evolution of healthcare and community health.

As a proven leader of complex projects, he is skilled at guiding multidisciplinary stakeholders by combining technology, functionality and experience within healthcare environments. He enjoys working with clinical teams to optimize workflows and improve overall health and well-being.

Board certified by the American College of Healthcare Architects, Mitchell has experience in community-based design, adaptive reuse and Integrated Project Delivery through Building Information Modeling. He strives to bring fresh ideas, expand critical thinking and convey a challenging perspective to the discipline.

Within the firm, Mitchell leads the integration of virtual reality into the design process to improve best practices, enhance patient experience and streamline workflow. He frequently writes and presents on topics relating to healthcare design and community health across the Midwest.
