Construction is to begin on the new 371,000-square-foot Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute, located in downtown Orlando, Florida. The combined inpatient and outpatient facility will be dedicated solely to the care of orthopedic patients.
The $187-million institute includes a newly planned eight-story building that will house 75 inpatient rooms and 10 operating rooms. An adjoining six-story medical office building will include two floors of ambulatory suites, which will contain an added 12 operating rooms.
Designed by EYP Architecture & Engineering and built by Skanska, the medical pavilion and outpatient surgery center are set to be completed in late 2022 and the hospital has an anticipated completion by summer 2023. Upon its opening, the hospital is expected to add 500 jobs. As one of the only orthopedic-specific hospitals in the Southeast, the new facility will offer unparalleled comfort and ease for patients – from arrival through departure.
