Sustainable Building Practices, Materials Help Deliver Northwest Health – La Porte Hospital

Construction on the new Northwest Health – La Porte Hospital, located in La Porte, Indiana, was recently completed and has now opened. The project team included general contractor Robins & Morton and architect Gresham Smith.

The 204,000-square-foot, acute care community hospital houses 84 beds, featuring emergency services, inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiovascular services, critical care, interventional radiology, orthopedic services and maternity care, among other services.

Throughout the project’s duration, it generated more than 300 construction jobs and utilized 65% local trade contractors and vendors. Its structural steel was also supplied from regional steel mills.

The facility’s construction involved sustainable building practices and materials, and its design integrates features such as low-e glass for energy efficiency. Northwest Health – La Porte is pursuing a Green Globes Certification.
