Construction is complete on the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial, located in Miami, Florida. The project is one of several being managed under the Jackson Health System’s $1.4-billion Miracle-Building Bond Program, which is transforming the patient-centered Jackson Health System by modernizing all of its facilities to better meet the needs of Miami-Dade County residents and international patients who travel to Miami because of Jackson’s medical expertise.
AECOM provided program management and staff augmentation services to design and construct this comprehensive rehabilitation center with a project value of $170 million. Responsibilities included selecting the construction manager and design team, project management and planning, process improvement consulting, dashboard and e-Builder support, construction coordination, risk analysis/mitigation, cost estimating and working with local and state authorities through the approvals process.
The 250,000-square-foot Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center was delivered using an Integrated Project Delivery process with Lean construction practices, and features 72 inpatient beds and offerings to help patients reintegrate to daily life, including an aquatic center, driving simulator, rooftop terrace, meditation space, transition apartments, activity garden and extensive public art installations.
The project team also included general contractor Turner Construction and architect HDR. Inc.
