The Children’s Hospital of Alabama Lee Building and 4th Avenue Parking Deck recently won an AIA Alabama Excellence in Design Honor Award. SSOE Group teamed with Williams Blackstock Architects on this project, with SSOE providing electrical, security and voice/data engineering services for the Children’s Hospital of Alabama’s new 120,000-square-foot, 11-story parking deck with 1,480 spaces, and a 5-story Lee office building.
The primary goal of the parking structure was to relieve the parking congestion on campus and allow for future expansion opportunities. The new structure is connected via a pedestrian bridge to the hospital’s existing Park Place building and connects the new MOB to the entire campus.
The scope for this project included electrical service entrance/utility coordination, interior power distribution, standby power system, interior lighting, central grounding system, voice/data structured premise cabling, overhead paging, wireless network distribution system, audio-video presentation system, intercom system, access control, video surveillance, detention system: monitoring/control and fire detection/alarm.
