Industry Experts Join Facility Guidelines Institute

Isabelle Arnold and Tina Duncan recently joined Facility Guidelines Institute. Arnold, a project architect with Array Architects, has been invited to join FGI’s Biocontainment Unit Task Group. Duncan, AIA, ACHA, CBO, has been appointed to FGI’s board of directors.

Arnold was selected for her expertise in biocontainment unit design, which was on display during two presentations she gave at HITT Contracting’s Co|Lab earlier the year. The Biocontainment Unit Task Group is an exclusive team of experts who will help establish biocontainment unit-specific material for 2022’s Guidelines. The team includes facilities directors, nursing directors, code consultants, regulatory officials and fellow healthcare designers. In November, Arnold joined forces with Leach Wallace Associates to unveil a simulation mock-up serving as proof of concept for a 6,500-square-foot flexible biocontainment unit project in development in the Washington, D.C. area.

Duncan is a principal at HKS, Inc., in Dallas, Texas, and an expert in regulatory compliance for the design and construction of healthcare facilities.

Tina Duncan

A registered architect, Duncan has more than 18 years of experience as a project architect and healthcare planner. She focuses on the technical aspects of healthcare design and has a keen understanding of how regulatory requirements affect the built environment. As an active member of the codes and standards community, Duncan chairs the Codes and Standards Committee for the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health and the Dallas AIA Codes and Standards Council. She is a member of the International Code Council and National Fire Protection Association, and is a certified building official and certified accessibility reviewer. In 2018, Duncan joined the 2022 FGI Health Guidelines Revision Committee as a representative of the AIA/AAH Codes and Standards Committee. She was a subject matter expert for the 2018 edition of the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Outpatient Facilities.
