Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station Multi-Phased Project Required Extensive Planning, Collaboration

The expansion and renovation of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station, Texas, located near Texas A&M University, is complete. McCarthy Building Companies renovated and built out tens of thousands of square-feet of existing shell space.

The project added 24 new patient beds inclusive of dialysis, Women’s and Children’s and intermediate care. Logistically, the floors to be built out were located adjacent to operational critical care areas such as NICU. The hospital was already operating at max capacity, which made it difficult to gain access to occupied areas for underfloor work, conduct noisy activities and dust/infection control was critical. For spaces closest to noisy activities, project teams utilized a wall panel system which allowed quick and easy assembly of a dust-containment, noise-insulating barrier.

McCarthy worked closely with the nursing staff and facilities personnel to schedule and plan work to eliminate or minimize any disruption to operations, maintain a clean and safe environment and to ensure patients, staff and visitors were not impacted.
