As the most recent Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo wrapped, two industry leaders have received recognition for outstanding contributions to the medical construction and design community.
MKM architecture + design Principal Zach Benedict has received the George Pressler Under 40 Award. The award is named after one of the earliest champions of the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo, George Pressler. The award was created to honor his legacy and recognize a young professional who has demonstrated leadership and vision within the fields of healthcare planning, design, construction and operations.
Benedict’s work on “Lifetime Community Districts” has explored how the design of inclusive civic space (projects that have ranged from critical access hospitals to public libraries) can dramatically improve the health and well-being of people of all ages and abilities.
Cyndi McCullough, BS, R.N., MSN, HDR’s director of Evidence-Based Design, was presented with the 2019 Individual Distinction Award for the leadership and vision she has shown throughout her career in healthcare design. McCullough’s career spans more than 30 years and has provided opportunities for her to improve patient outcomes and staff efficiency on healthcare facilities in all corners of the world.
