Expanded Emergency Care, Women’s Services, Pediatrics + Rehabilitation Support Growing Community

Construction of a 111,000-square-foot, four-story patient tower has been completed at AdventHealth Waterman, located in Tavares, Florida. The addition expands the emergency department, relocates the OB and pediatric services and provides shell space for future medical and surgical units, growing the hospital’s beds from 269 to 287.

The new 38-bed ED is housed on the first floor and features a dedicated entrance to support intuitive wayfinding. When additional renovation work is complete, the ED will accommodate 58 beds. The tower’s second floor is dedicated to the Center for Women and Children and includes gynecology, labor and delivery, postpartum care and inpatient pediatrics. The pediatric exam and patient rooms incorporate an “Under the Sea” theme to connect to the AdventHealth network of care. The third floor, under construction, will house a new service line, inpatient rehabilitation and the fourth floor is shelled for future expansion with structural support for two additional future floors.

The project team included Robins & Morton as general contractor and Gresham Smith as architect.
