Children’s Clinic Renovation Creates Big Impact for Littlest Patients
Updates to the interiors, furniture and signage of Children’s Clinic in St. Louis, Missouri are complete. The project team included architect Spellman & Brady and general contractor Land Dynamics Inc.
The clinic, which occupies 5,600 square feet in an existing medical office building, consists of two separate individual waiting rooms, 22 exam rooms and a shared workspace. The goal for the renovation was to create a big impact for patients and families while keeping the costs and disturbance low.
The overall design concept creates a fun, playful pediatric office using bright color blocking to help define corridors, exam rooms and waiting rooms. Bold, colorful signage for exam rooms, which integrates the client’s logo, is customized to serve as chart holders and space for medical work orders. The signage is installed over an orange, lime or blue vertical, floor-to-ceiling color stripe adjacent to the exam room door. This design detail adds a vibrant, wayfinding aesthetic. Additional custom exam tables were created to match the original Amish design along with other select furniture.
