An expansion and renovation at Miami Valley Hospital South, a member of Premier Health Partners, located in Centerville, Ohio, is complete. The new joint and spine center with expanded sports medicine, sports performance and pain center services is part of a long-term vision for the hospital, creating an orthopedic center that serves patients close to home. Gresham Smith served as architect and Danis was general contractor.
The 170,000-square-foot, six-story addition blends seamlessly into the existing façade, matching the five-story patient tower addition the architect designed in 2007. The orthopedic center’s new two-story lobby features a sleek glass elevator and escalators, while floor-to-ceiling windows provide natural light. The design team used a palette of cool grays and blues, dark woods and metallics to create a warm, hospitality-like environment.
The center features six new operating rooms and 20 additional inpatient beds. A centrally located physician office area adjacent to the operating rooms allows all orthopedic doctors and surgeons to work together in the same space, enhancing communication and elevating patient care. The expansion also features a new sports medicine and rehab program that will care for athletes across the region.
In addition to the expansion, a 42,000-square-foot renovation to the hospital’s emergency medicine, cardiology and primary care services was completed, along with the facility’s first cardiac catheterization lab.
