Webinar to Address Top Physical Design Factors Leading to Potential Falls in Patient Rooms

A webinar entitled “Reducing Patient Falls: Top Five Physical Design Factors,” will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20. Hosted by The Center for Health Design, the webinar will present the Top 5 physical design factors contributing to potential falls in patient rooms.

The factors were identified in an experimental study, funded over two phases by the National Patient Safety Foundation and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The first phase of the study identified 26 factors. The second phase involved additional, in-depth data analysis and exploration to identify those factors that present the highest odds of contributing to falls. Learn more at nursingihd.com.

Potential implications for design and clinical practices will also be discussed. Learning objectives include:

  • See the triangular “patient-environment-furniture/equipment/fixture” interactions in the context of falls
  • Examine 11 key physical design questions arising from the findings
  • Explore implications for design and nursing practice
