The Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design, associated with Academy of Architecture for Health, will host a “Creating Safe Healthcare Environments” webinar from 12-1 p.m. Eastern Time, March 21. This one-hour course provides an introduction to the creation of safe healthcare environments. Learning objectives and a safety overview include:
Define a minimum of three major safety issues
Explain how the design of the environment can be leveraged to reduce risk to injury and infection
Identify topic-specific design strategies
Describe how operational strategies must be aligned with the design of the environment
Safety should be a top priority in any healthcare environment. But it’s not a simple issue with one solution; it’s a complex one that requires a systematic approach. According to the Facility Guidelines Institute, “all healthcare facility projects shall be designed and constructed to facilitate the safe delivery of care.” There are many issues to be cognizant of in a healthcare setting that can all lead to harm for patients, families and staff.
This course has also been approved for 1.0 hour of EDAC CEU and 1.0 AIA/HSW CEU.
