Construction on Novant Health’s Mint Hill Medical Center, a full-service hospital and attached physician’s plaza in Mint Hill, North Carolina, has opened.
The nearly 207,000-square-foot, three-story facility was designed to feel like a destination. On the exterior, a mix of metal and stonework ties into the site’s surroundings, while arched canopies and rocking chairs create a welcoming environment. Inside the building, soothing colors, floor-to-ceiling glass corridors and views of the campus’ multiple gardens and walking trails bring the outdoors in, flooding the space with natural light and fostering a healing environment.
The full-service, 36-bed hospital and adjacent medical office building houses cardiology, emergency, surgery and women’s services, as well as advanced imaging, laboratory and transitional care departments. The hospital’s all-private, standardized patient rooms with attached bathrooms, sleeper sofas, lighting and temperature controls and USB charging ports provide comfort and convenience for patients and visitors. Decentralized nurse stations and supplies and bedside computers for charting keep care close to patients in accordance with Novant Health’s approach to care, as well as promote efficiencies. Patient lifts and dedicated behavioral health treatment spaces promote patient safety and empower staff to provide the highest level of care.
Gresham Smith provided architecture, interior design and structural engineering services. Vanopy Construction was the general contractor on the project.
