ARLINGTON, Va. — Gary Hamilton is a new senior vice president and healthcare leader in the Arlington, Virginia Buildings Practice of WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.
In his new position, Hamilton is responsible for leading the healthcare team in the Arlington office and responsible for client relations in the Northeast. He has over 21 years of experience in design and project management. He is a published author and a thought leader in the healthcare industry and was elevated to the senior status of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering in 2015. Prior to joining WSP, he was the national engineering healthcare leader for SmithGroupJJR.
Hamilton received a master of energy engineering from South Bank University in London and a bachelor of civil engineering from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad. He has just recently won two first place technology awards from the ASHRAE National Chapter and ASHRAE Region III for the Carilion Clinic operating room renovation project, located in Roanoke, Virginia.
His professional affiliations include founder of the National Capital Region Society of Healthcare Engineers – the local American Society for Healthcare Engineering chapter in Washington D.C.; Certified Evidence-Based Design Professional with the Center for Health Design; ASHE representative on the International Code Council Ad Hoc Committee on Healthcare and a member of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers. He is a registered professional engineer in Maryland and District of Columbia, as well as a certified commissioning authority and is a LEED AP BD+C.
