CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline Tops Out

HOUSTON, Texas – McCarthy Building Companies recently celebrated an important project milestone – the topping out of the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline, new tower addition. The construction company broke ground on the new tower for the hospital in July 2016 and is expected to be completed in spring 2019.

To celebrate the milestone, more than 400 people gathered at the hospital, attendees were treated to a catered lunch while listening to speakers from McCarthy,

CBRE and CHRISTUS. Those in attendance included McCarthy’s executives and craft workers, subcontractors, as well as program manager, CBRE and CHRISTUS Spohn executives. McCarthy also created an aluminum beam for all CHRISTUS employees to sign in commemoration of the topping out which will be displayed in the hospital upon completion.

The new 12-story tower to the hospital will significantly add to the hospital’s capability in providing care for their patients. McCarthy is building a new imaging room and operating rooms on the second floor, a new emergency department to replace the emergency room and renovating about 8-10 blocks of utilities on the hospital’s campus.

In addition to the newly topped out CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline, some of McCarthy’s healthcare projects include CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler expansion, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Alkek Hospital Expansion in Houston, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center – The Pavilion expansion in Houston, the Children’s HealthSM Specialty Center 2 Plano and the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Replacement at Fort Hood, Texas by Balfour Beatty | McCarthy joint venture.
