Susan Wiggins, senior strategic advisor, ASID; Susan Chung, Ph.D., senior associate, Research, ASID and economist Jack Kleinhenz, Ph.D., Kleinhenz & Associates, will present results and analysis from the 2nd Quarter IDBI report, including:
- A rundown and analysis of the market segments and geographic regions that enjoyed a positive second quarter, 2017
- A look at the key indices from the report and what they suggest for the design industry over the next six months
- An evaluation of how interior design practitioners interpret the economic climate
The ASID IDBI report is produced by the ASID Research and Knowledge Management department in partnership with economist Jack Kleinhenz, Ph.D. and Russ Smith, Ph.D., of Kleinhenz & Associates.
The index is compiled from a monthly ASID survey of geographically diverse firms that primarily offer interior design services, or offer interior design services as part of architectural, engineering and other related practices.
Practitioner perspectives on current and future business conditions for the interior design industry are a helpful indicator of changes in the direction of economic activity. The ASID indices are centered on a 50 percent scale: a score above 50 indicates expansion, while a score below 50 denotes contraction.
The ASID IDBI is reported monthly with more detailed statistics compiled in a quarterly report. The monthly and quarterly reports may be viewed at the asid.org/resource-center.
