Joan L. Suchomel, AIA, ACHA, EDAC, has joined CannonDesign’s health practice as a senior vice president and senior medical planner based in Chicago, Illinois. In her role, she will partner with healthcare clients to develop and help execute future thinking strategies and solutions.
She possesses more than 30 years of experience in practice, most recently as a principal at Eckenhoff Saunders Architects and as a director at Skidmore, Owings, 
& Merrill’s Chicago office. She has worked on a wide range of notable projects and comprehensive master plans for many of the healthcare industry’s leading systems.
Suchomel is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences and has been widely published on topics of healthcare design. She is the 2017 past president of the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health, where she led the creation of a strategic plan to optimize the academy’s service to its members and its impact on the greater healthcare design community.
