Ground is Broken for New Longs Peak Hospital

HOUSTON, Texas – WHR Architects was part of the celebration when UCHealth officially broke ground recently on a new hospital in Longmont, Colorado that will address the healthcare needs of a growing area of the state and provide new, high-quality services for patients.

Jul16_MCDeNews_Projects_UCHealth1Spanning approximately 212,300 square feet, UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital and the ambulatory surgery center will contain 53 inpatient beds with room to expand to more than 100. Once the full-service hospital opens in 2017, it will include an intensive care unit, Level III trauma center and emergency department, operating rooms, advanced cardiac services and a surgery center. Project cost is estimated between $185-190 million.

The new hospital’s architecture uses regional stone and wood building products to maintain a local feel, and will convey a memorable brand identity with a timeless character, according to WHR Architects’ lead designer on the project, Tushar Gupta. “WHR’s design team is proud to collaborate with UCHealth to create an innovative, welcoming and healing environment for the community,” he said. “The design establishes a strong visual identity, in distinctive form and native materiality, that will be part of UCHealth’s new facilities throughout the region going forward.”
