SEATTLE, Wash. – Duncan Griffin, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has joined HDR as a sustainable principal dedicated to helping clients create sustainable solutions aligned with their enterprise goals. He is a licensed architect and Lean-certified practitioner with nearly 25 years of experience.
Duncan is well known for his work for healthcare, lab and education projects, having recently managed initiatives on over 1.3 million square feet of hospital and clinic projects. He often engages in project design modeling for energy efficiency, and worked with the Integrated Design Lab and Solarc in Seattle, Washington to research ideal solutions for energy reduction in hospitals. The results were published in a study entitled “Targeting 100!,” which guides healthcare facilities in meeting Architecture 2030 goals by getting to 100 kBtu/SF/year.
Duncan presents at numerous conferences including CleanMed, the AIA National conference, Greenbuild and ASHE National where he has spoken about research projects, simulations and their applications for high-performance healthcare projects. He is also a committed urban environmentalist, organizing and leading volunteer parties with local nonprofit organizations to connect colleagues with volunteering opportunities in the Seattle, Washington community where he lives.
