HOUSTON, Texas – WHR Architects, CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and representatives from the community, including Mayor Javier Gonzales, recently celebrated the commencement of construction on the $44-million expansion on the hospital’s main campus in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Fittingly the day was also Florence Nightingale’s birthday and part of National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week.
The project includes 63,000 square feet of new construction: 36 medical/surgical beds on two floors of a new nursing unit; a two-story lobby with ancillary spaces and connections to the existing nursing units and outpatient lobby. The new wing is designed with structural systems to support an additional two stories to accommodate future needs.
McCarthy Building Companies is serving as general contractor on the expansion project.
