    Douglas Strout Joins RATCLIFF as Principal

    EMERYVILLE, Calif. – Doug Strout, AIA, an experienced healthcare designer and planner possessing an extensive portfolio of inpatient hospital and ambulatory care facilities with specialization in cancer care design and hospital master planning, has joined RATCLIFF as principal of the firm.

    Feb16_MCDeNews_People_Doug StroutHe was previously principal and healthcare director at KMD Architects, overseeing the planning and design for projects ranging from ambulatory care facilities, hospital seismic upgrades, women’s and children’s health, surgical suites, emergency services, inpatient units and oncology to hospital modernization master plans and replacement hospital implementation.

    He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech, and began his career in the early 1980s with firms in Maryland and Massachusetts. He was a healthcare principal with The Ritchie Organization in Newton, Massachusetts, until relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2005 to join KMD.

    As an extension of his passion for the design of cancer research and treatment facilities and the future evolution of hospital campuses, Strout is a frequent public speaker, addressing professional conferences on topics including the future of cancer care design and comprehensive master planning.
