Sheila F. Cahnman, AIA, FACHA, LEED AP, has been elected to the American College of Healthcare Architects Council of Fellows. For over 30 years, she has championed healthcare design innovation with an emphasis on improving the hospital patient, family and staff experience.
Based in Chicago, Illinois, Cahnman has planned and managed the design of millions of square feet of healthcare projects in the U.S. and abroad. She was regional and national healthcare practice leader for award-winning architectural teams that produced some of the largest and most innovative work of the last 15 years. As lead medical planner, her portfolio includes 12 new bed towers and 10 cancer center projects. Her new practice, JumpGarden Consulting, LLC, consults to architecture, engineering and development companies, as well as hospital systems.
Cahnman has presented at over 30 healthcare design conferences and symposiums, and published over 25 articles. She is a volunteer lecturer at universities and an annual guest critic in the healthcare studio at University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana.
