Brian McKenna to Lead CannonDesign’s Boston Health Practice

BOSTON, Mass. — Brian McKenna, AIA, has joined CannonDesign as the health practice leader in its Boston, Massachusetts office. As a principal, he will strengthen the firm’s Boston health practice by developing Oct15_MCDeNews_People_Brian McKennacollaborative client partnerships, leading multidisciplinary project teams and using Lean methodologies to help healthcare organizations achieve strategic goals and improve performance.

McKenna joins CannonDesign with 20 years of experience as a healthcare architect, most recently as an associate principal with TRO Jung|Brannen. Throughout his career, he has developed a sophisticated understanding of both healthcare design and construction, as well as the roles and responsibilities each stakeholder has in the design process. He has successfully led teams for health projects of all sizes throughout New England, including over 200,000 square feet of inpatient programs and outpatient centers for Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. His work for Newton-Wellesley Hospital earned him three Partners in Excellence Awards from Partners HealthCare.

McKenna holds a Massachusetts Hospital Association Lean certification and has led several mapping sessions and Lean 2P/3P events. He’s a registered architect in five states.
