PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Power management company Eaton announced it has been contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Alabama, to help advance electrical safety at a major hospital and multiple medical clinics in Georgia. Under the contracts, Eaton will provide electrical safety studies across the Winn Army Community Hospital and 18 clinic buildings located at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.
“Electrical system assessments help healthcare facilities maintain the necessary requirements for a safe work and treatment environment,” said John Stampfel, vice president and general manager, Electrical Engineering Services and Systems Division, Eaton. “Eaton provides the experience and expertise needed to help the U.S. Army examine the level of safety at its facilities to allow it to provide a high level of patient, personnel and visitor care.”
Eaton’s electrical system safety studies will include in-depth analysis of possible risk associated with arc flash hazards and short-circuit fault currents, and improved device coordination for greater system reliability. The arc flash studies will help the U.S. Army meet the latest Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety regulations, effective January 2015. To supplement the studies, Eaton safety experts will also provide updated arc flash labeling along with electrical and arc flash training courses to help maintain a high standard of electrical safety at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.
