NexCore Completes First of Multiple MOBs on NorthBay Ambulatory Campus

FAIRFIELD, Calif., and DENVER, Colo. — NexCore Group announced its completion of the Green Valley Health Plaza for NorthBay Healthcare, a two-hospital, regional health system in northern California.

“We’re proud to continue our 10-year year working relationship with NorthBay Healthcare on the Green Valley Health Plaza project” says Jarrod Daddis, executive managing director of development at NexCore Group. “Once again, our teams have collaborated to develop an outstanding facility. The Green Valley Health Plaza is an efficiently designed and highly flexible facility that will allow NorthBay to adapt to ever-evolving operational and healthcare delivery models.”

NorthBay engaged NexCore in 2012 to develop the first of multiple outpatient facilities planned for the system’s Green Valley ambulatory campus in Fairfield.

NexCore completed the first outpatient facility, the Green Valley Health Plaza, in February. The two-story, 35,600-square-foot Health Plaza is located adjacent to NorthBay’s corporate headquarters and conference center building, which NexCore developed in 2007.

“We are very pleased. NexCore has delivered a patient- and provider-friendly facility designed to human scale, and they did it in a short timeframe to meet our objectives,” says Elnora Cameron, vice president of strategic development at NorthBay Healthcare. “The attractive facility, which has been designed for patient convenience and provider efficiency, conveys an important message of quality to the community and sets the standard for future outpatient facilities on our Green Valley campus.”

Custom Design Provides Operational Efficiencies
The new Health Plaza has allowed NorthBay to consolidate a number of different outpatient services, which were previously housed in separate facilities not designed to accommodate the latest healthcare delivery models. These services include primary care, specialty care, Health at Home and hospice/bereavement services. Early collaboration with NorthBay allowed NexCore to custom design a facility that would meet the needs of patients and providers and could be delivered at market rates. The customized design has not only helped NorthBay reduce its space needs but will also improve workflow, increase efficiency, reduce expenses and maximize revenues.

Complementary Design Features
Incorporating corporate branding features was one of NorthBay’s objectives for the Health Plaza. The NexCore team responded by borrowing “Class A” features from NorthBay’s corporate headquarters, building and incorporating them into the design of the Health Plaza. These features include similar exterior skin facades, open atrium front entry lobby, full-height wood paneling, unique stair and railing design and incorporation of predetermined interior finishes within the clinic spaces. NexCore’s Role
NexCore’s scope of work on the Health Plaza included validation of the medical office building master plan, building layout and orientation within the site, building size, programming, space planning, entitlements, collaboration with NorthBay to determine the proper location of services within the floor plan, development services and design and contractor selection. NexCore will also provide property management services for the building.
