CHICAGO, Ill. — ASHE Director of Codes and Standards Chad Beebe, AIA, SASHE, will serve on an important committee that oversees the standard development process at the National Fire Protection Association.
The NFPA Board of Directors recently appointed Beebe to the NFPA Standards Council. The council is a 13-member committee responsible for the issuance of all NFPA codes and standards. The council establishes and appoints members to hundreds of technical committees and other code-making panels, and adjudicates all appeals concerning the standards development process.
ASHE Executive Director Dale Woodin, CHFM, FASHE, said Beebe’s appointment reflects the fact that the code development community has confidence in his abilities and his approach to regulations.
“Chad’s relentless pursuit of creating standards based on scientific evidence and economic justification has earned him universal respect and trust,” Woodin said. “He has the ability to focus on the big picture while still ensuring every detail is accurate—a skill that will benefit the standards council.”
As ASHE’s director of codes and standards, Beebe has worked to help eliminate conflicting and outdated codes regulating healthcare facilities. Beebe serves on several national panels and committees that create codes and standards for healthcare facilities, including the Facility Guidelines Institute’s Health Guidelines Revision Committee and Steering Committee.
