The Bay Area practice will constitute 32 professionals with expertise in healthcare and science and technology. As part of a 300-member firm, they will become a vital component of Harley Ellis Devereaux’s national healthcare practice.
“The merger enhances Harley Ellis Devereaux’s strong credentials in the healthcare market and the increased staff size in the Bay Area will improve the firm’s capabilities in the healthcare market sector,” said Gary Skog, chairman and CEO of Harley Ellis Devereaux.
BFHL is an architectural and planning firm that has specialized in healthcare and senior living projects since its inception in 1980. With two complementary principals who have worked together for the past 15 years, the leadership and direction is defined by a unique combination of both technical and planning expertise. Its passion is creating healing environments for patients, residents and staff that have a foundation in efficient, long-term and flexible planning.
Lotito and Paloutzian will continue on as principals at Harley Ellis Devereaux, with each taking on the role of healthcare studio leader.
“We are excited about joining Harley Ellis Devereaux and expanding the firm’s healthcare studio’s presence on the west coast,” said Paloutzian. “The combination of BFHL’s experience and reputation in the Bay Area and Harley Ellis Devereaux’s extensive healthcare portfolio will provide our clients with an even broader range of services, thought leadership and design excellence.”
The newly merged Bay Area practice will continue to operate from both office locations, while plans are made for co-location at a later date.
