AUSTIN, Texas — Former Seton Healthcare Family medical interiors expert Patricia Fortenberry, IIDA has officially launched Health Space Design with co-founder Dan Greenfield. The Austin, Texas-based, woman-owned design consultancy will serve the medical community and booming healthcare construction industry across Texas.
At Seton, Fortenberry was an owner’s representative for the largest hospital network in central Texas. During her 16-year tenure, she gained a unique perspective on the complexities of large-scale renovation, design and construction projects, and the requirements of the healthcare environment — including the first of its kind Platinum LEED-certified Dell Children’s Medical Center.
“The right design requires extensive experience with furniture and finishes that can withstand the demands of a medical environment and knowledge of the codes regulating patient safety and privacy. That’s where Health Space Design can play a valuable role.”
In addition to serving Austin and San Antonio, Health Space Design is targeting markets across Texas from Dallas to El Paso, as well as Atlanta, Ga.
Health Space Design will focus on a full range of medical interior design services for physician and dentist offices, urgent care centers, specialty clinics, acute care and eldercare facilities, as well as laboratories and veterinary medicine.
“Beyond our commitment to patient and caregiver safety and well-being, we operate under premise that ‘good design is good business,’” said Fortenberry. “When done well, design contributes to a welcoming environment, instills confidence and minimizes stress. It means more positive first impressions and higher patient satisfaction, which increases referrals and return visits.”
