Barbara Dellinger, MA, FIIDA, EDAC, AAHID, CID, who serves as interior design director and associate vice president in HDR’s Alexandria, Va. office, has been inducted into the International Interior Design Association’s College of Fellows, the highest honor that the association bestows.
This honor signifies Dellinger’s proven leadership in the industry and her contributions to the interior design profession and to the IIDA. Dellinger’s work has been accented by the integration of research into design. Her many accomplishments, which contributed to her selection for the College of Fellows, include being among the first to use Evidence-Based Design research for two DoD Military Health System projects (both over 1.2 million square feet), having her EBD Furniture Research Checklist (co-authored with Eileen Malone) mandatorily included in the DoD/MHS World Class Tool Kit and her invitation earlier this year to join the Center for Health Design’s Research Coalition. Recently she has been asked to co-chair the CHD’s EDAC Committee.
In her new role, Dellinger will be involved in initiatives to advance the interior design industry, including serving as a mentor to aspiring designers, helping implement educational programs, serving on committees, along with other activities that reflect positively on the interior design profession, as well as the IIDA.
