Michael Durand Joins Ghafari as Director of Healthcare Practice

DEARBORN, Mich. — Michael Durand, PE, LEED AP has joined Ghafari Associates as director of its healthcare practice. Durand, a seasoned professional with nearly 20 years of engineering and project management experience, brings to the firm a wealth of diverse project and technical experience. In his new role, he will be responsible for strengthening and expanding the firm’s presence in the healthcare sector and providing principal oversight of healthcare projects.

Durand joins Ghafari from Detroit, Mich.-based Albert Kahn Associates, Inc., where he served most recently as a principal and strategic board member. During his 15-year tenure with Kahn, he gained valuable experience in principal oversight, business development and project management. His industry knowledge includes the design and implementation of healthcare, automotive, industrial, commercial, government and adaptive reuse projects.

A graduate of Lawrence Technological University, Durand holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with honors and is a professional engineer and LEED AP. His industry affiliations include the Engineering Society of Detroit and U.S. Green Building Council.
