McShane Development Company Completes New Specialty Outpatient Clinic

McShane - VA-Corpus Christi Photograph RROSEMOUNT, Ill. — Stephen M. Doyle, vice president – healthcare of McShane Development Company, announced the completion of the new U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Specialty Outpatient Clinic located in Corpus Christi, Texas.  McShane Development Company provided the turnkey development, design and construction services for this new build-to-suit medical facility.

The 37,444-square-foot, single-story Specialty Outpatient Clinic improves upon services already provided at the existing Corpus Christi Outpatient Clinic.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication of the new facility will be conducted on Friday, March 1.

The clinic was designed and constructed to meet LEED-Silver standards and includes sustainable features such as an energy-efficient HVAC system, a highly reflective TPO roof and a glass curtainwall entryway providing natural light into the lobby and common areas.  The exterior was constructed utilizing locally sourced materials, such as brick and Texas limestone.  Patient and staff entrances have been skillfully located for convenient access, and generous parking enhances the patient’s overall experience.

The new clinic provides an expansion of specialty services and enhances the delivery of a wide array of healthcare services to veterans within the Corpus Christi area.  The Corpus Christi VA Specialty Outpatient Clinic recently began seeing patients using a phased activation approach.  Currently, the facility has the following active clinics: mental health, physical therapy, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonary, cardiology, compensation and pension and an expanded pharmacy and laboratory services.  Planned services in 2013 include, but are not limited to, dental, urology, nephrology, dermatology and ophthalmology services.  The interior of the Specialty Care Outpatient Clinic includes a generous public waiting area and lobby, numerous physician offices, treatment rooms, staff support areas, diagnostic testing space and laboratories.

“McShane Development Company is pleased to deliver this Class A specialty outpatient clinic for the veterans in and around the Corpus Christi area,” remarked Doyle.  “Our firm’s extensive expertise within the healthcare market allowed us to deliver this well-designed, constructed and operationally-efficient healthcare facility to assist in the delivery of these important medical services to the veterans and their families within the area.”

Cadence McShane Construction Company and Rees Associates, Inc. provided the comprehensive design/build construction services.
