Kraus-Anderson Begins Critical Access Hospital in Minnesota

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has begun construction on North Valley Health Center, a new $14.7-million, rural primary care hospital in Warren, Minn. The new facility, which is expected to open in late 2013, will provide up-to-date critical access to Warren and the surrounding area.

Located about 25 miles northeast of Grand Forks, N.D., North Valley Health Center received $13.5 million of its funding from USDA Rural Development. In addition, NVHC has raised $1.2 million in contributions, thanks in large part to a $400,000 Otto Bremer Foundation $400,000 matching grant.

NVHC will offer expanded medical services and is expected to attract additional specialty care doctors and medical staff. The new hospital is an opportunity to provide more healthcare services that will not only enhance the viability of Warren and the surrounding communities, but will slots online also help encourage more economic development in the area.

Designed by Minneapolis-based Horty Elving & Associates, the 43,889-square-foot hospital will replace the former 55-year-old building.  NVHC will be connected to the existing Good Samaritan Society, resulting in further collaboration between the facilities.  Good Samaritan Society provides senior care and services that range from traditional skilled nursing care to senior living facilities.
