BOSTON, Mass. — Margulies Perruzzi Architects has been selected to design and renovate a patient-care facility for its tenant, Winchester Hospital. MPA is providing interior architecture and healthcare design services for the base-building upgrade and 38,000-square-foot tenant fit-out for Winchester Hospital.
Winchester Hospital is relocating the Breast Care Center and Community Health Institute from its Baldwin Park II facility in Woburn to larger space in a new facility. The Winchester Hospital Breast Care Center is a regional evaluation center offering breast health resources to women, including advanced imaging technology and digital mammography.
The Community Health Institute offers wellness and prevention programs and services such as diabetes screenings, lactation consultations, massage and acupuncture. MPA was selected to design patient and clinical areas for the project, which is slated for completion in late 2012.
“We are very excited about Winchester Hospital’s move to Unicorn Park, a convenient location that enables us to continue to bring high quality care at a value to all the communities we serve,” said Robby Robertson, vice president of facilities and real estate at Winchester Hospital. “MPA has been a critical part of the team, bringing their expertise to design a new space that meets our goals and vision.”
MPA’s healthcare design and architecture practice is focused on process refinement within a healing environment: providing space solutions that contain costs while facilitating improved care to patients. Employing a Lean Design process with Building Information Modeling (BIM), MPA’s healthcare designs maximize workflow, standard procedures, access, efficiency, and comfort for both patients and medical staff. With a specific focus on acute care environments and ambulatory clinics, the firm’s complex healthcare and medical office design work includes the renovation of interior space, building renovations, and new stand-alone buildings.
