CENTRAL TEXAS, Texas – Scott & White Healthcare plans to open its new acute care facility in August, 2013, one month earlier than originally scheduled. The Scott & White Hospital — College Station will be located on Rock Prairie and Texas Hwy 6. Construction began in March 2011.

“We are excited to announce that our construction process has been seamless up to this point, which will allow us to begin serving our patients sooner,” noted Jason D. Jennings, chief executive officer for the Scott & White College Station region.

In addition, ground has been broken for the medical office building that will serve as an anchor to the new hospital. Measuring 120,000-square-feet, the four-story facility represents the collaborative work of Jacobs Engineering and Architecture Group, Inc. and Kitchell Construction. The hospital and medical office building will connect on two levels for seamless patient access. Building occupancy begins in July 2013.

The medical office building will house many medical specialties that utilize the hospital on a regular basis including, but not limited to obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, expanded rehabilitation and therapy services as well as a comprehensive sleep center.

“It is imperative that our physicians have immediate and convenient access to the in-patient facility in order to provide the seamless care for which Scott & White is known,” said William L. Rayburn, M.D., chief medical officer for the Scott & White College Station region.

“We look forward to strengthening and expanding our role in the community, and serving residents of the area for many years to come,” Jennings said.
