Rosalyn Cama, FASID, president and principal interior designer of CAMA Incorporated, has been named by the American Society of Interior Designers as the 2012 Designer of Distinction.
“It is an honor and a privilege as a healthcare designer to be awarded ASID’s 2012 Designer of Distinction,” Cama said. “This award is an acknowledgement of the work I, with others, have championed in promoting an Evidence-Based Design methodology that makes a correlation between design interventions and health, organizational and economic outcomes that are tied to larger policy and/or societal issues. ”
The Designer of Distinction Award recognizes an ASID professional member who exemplifies a commitment to the profession as demonstrated by significant, high-quality work representing excellence in interior design. In addition, award recipients show attention to social concerns within the interior design profession and express creative, innovative concepts that have advanced the profession.
Cama serves as chair of the board for the Center for Health Design. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Interior Design and Textiles from the University of Connecticut. She is a frequent writer and lecturer. In addition, Cama has authored “Evidence-Based Healthcare Design,” John Wiley & Sons, Inc. publisher, released in 2009.
CAMA Incorporated was founded in 1983 and has completed design work for many clients nationwide in the area of healthcare and academic settings for higher education. Most notably are: Yale-New Haven Health System, Princeton Healthcare System, OhioHealth, Baystate Health System, Medical College of Georgia Health and The University Medical Center El Paso.
