NewTower2PHOENIX, Ariz. — Banner Estrella Medical Center announces plans for a new 144-bed patient tower to its hospital campus in Phoenix, Ariz. General contractor for the project is McCarthy Building Companies and the architect is SmithGroupJJR.

The project will support patients from both ambulatory facilities, as well as new patients from Avondale, Buckeye, Glendale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Peoria, Surprise, Tolleson and west Phoenix.

The Tower Two Construction Project will include:

    • Additional capacity to meet demand for patient care services through 2018
    • Numerous infrastructure improvements that pave the way for additional future expansions, including two shelled patient bed floors, a new cardiac catheterization lab, three new operating rooms and additional medical imaging capabilities
    • Increasing Emergency department capacity
    • Remodeling existing obstetrical suites and providing additional neonatal intensive care unit capacity
    • Adding an additional surgical suite
    • Providing more visitor and staff parking

Construction on this multi-phase project is anticipated to begin in August and anticipated to be completed in July 2015.

“For the past seven years, Banner Estrella has been the West Valley’s preferred healthcare provider and we are pleased to be able to grow in support of the needs of the communities we serve,” said Deb Krmpotic, CEO for Banner Estrella Medical Center. “This is especially important for our Women and Infants Services department and our Emergency department, both of which are regularly at capacity due to our reputation for providing excellence in patient care.”
