HUMBLE, Texas — Interior construction on the new Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center is now underway in Houston, Texas. Balfour Beatty Construction serves as the general contractor for the project. Interior design for the Convenient Care Center was provided by Philo Wilke, and the project engineer is Telios Engineering.

The $7.4-million, 30,000-square-foot center is designed to take the stress out of scheduling appointments for routine health needs — MRI, CT scan, radiology, wellness, prevention, physical therapy, and rehabilitation — by offering families convenient options such as walk-in access and extended evening and weekend hours.

For more urgent needs, the center will offer a 24-hour, seven day a week, state-of-the-art emergency department staffed by Memorial Hermann Northeast’s board-certified emergency medicine physicians and emergency trained nurses.

“We are happy to have another opportunity to work with Memorial Hermann,” said Steve Mechler, division president for Balfour Beatty Construction in Houston, “and to help the hospital support area families in need of easier access to healthcare.”

Balfour Beatty Construction has worked with Memorial Hermann for 24 years, completing construction of more than 1.7-million-square-feet in space for Memorial Hermann.

“We are excited to be the first Memorial Hermann hospital to open a Convenient Care Center and we are proud to bring this unique facility to the Lake Houston area,” said Louis G. Smith, Jr., chief executive officer of the Northeast campus.

Interior construction is anticipated to be complete in November of this year. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned prior to the facility opening in late 2012.
