Department of Veterans Affairs Retains Heery for Major Commissioning Assignment
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded a contract to Heery International for building commissioning services for the VA’s new 100,000-square-foot research office building at the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Healthcare System’s University Drive campus.
The three-story facility includes offices, laboratories, exam rooms and support spaces. The $27-million project is scheduled for completion in late 2013 and has been designed to achieve LEED-Silver certification.
Heery’s services include commissioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. “We are excited to add commissioning of this important new research building to our list of ongoing consulting projects for the VA nationwide,” says Heery Vice President Joe Gottardy. “This project is another excellent demonstration of how the VA continues to improve facilities and services to benefit veterans.”
Heery International is an architecture, interior design, engineering, program management and construction management firm with offices nationwide. As an affiliated company of Parsons Brinckerhoff, one of the world’s leading professional services companies, Heery now operates as that firm’s U.S. buildings operating company.
