Phoebe Sumter Medical Center and its surrounding community have come a long way since the days of tents donated by FEMA and GEMA, modular buildings and an interim hospital facility.
The Americus Community has not only grown as a group of people but also as a medical family. On March 1, 2007, Americus was hit with a powerful and devastating tornado. In October 2008, Phoebe Putney Health System partnered with the county to rebuild the Sumter hospital with help from the KLMK team.
The New Replacement Hospital Campus is located on a 282-acre, greenfield site with three Specialty Clinic Buildings totaling 52,000-square-feet. The 76-bed hospital is 183,000-square-feet featuring all private rooms and state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is working to obtain LEED-Silver certification.
KLMK Group has worked diligently and efficiently with architect Gresham Smith & Partners and construction manager, Brasfield & Gorrie, to complete the new facilities. As Project Manager, KLMK assisted Phoebe Sumter with site selection, land acquisition, schedule, budget and move management to lay a firm foundation for the new hospital.
