BSA LifeStructures Names New Practice Leaders

BSA LifeStructures has named Brian Hoagland director of engineering. He will oversee the engineering components of the firm’s work in the healing, learning and discovery market segments. Hoagland brings an electrical engineering background to the firm. He has garnered a reputation as a leader in process design approaches that are the foundation for the complex projects found in healthcare.

In addition, Julie Kern has been named director of planning. She will coordinate the strategic planning initiatives in three market segments: healing, learning and discovery.

Kern is recognized as a leader in the establishment of the company’s Evidence-Based Design measurement approach, LifeStructure Metrics, which connects the built environment to measurable design outcomes. Her research and studies of how noise, distance and patient room design affect healthcare delivery have been featured in international conferences and publications.

BSA LifeStructures designs facilities that support and enhance healing, learning and discovery – facilities that are lifestructures. A multidisciplinary team that employs trademarked LifeStructure Metrics to drive measurable outcomes, BSA LifeStructures collaborates with visionary healthcare, higher education and research clients to deliver inspired solutions that improve lives. The firm has offices in Chicago, Indianapolis and St. Louis. www.bsalifestructures.com.
