Burnette Joins Cannon Design as Healthcare Practice Leader

Tonia_Burnette_webBALTIMORE, Md./ARLINGTON, Va. — Cannon Design is pleased to announce that Tonia E. Burnette has joined the firm as principal. With a career that spans more than 28 years in the programming, planning and design of healthcare facilities, she collaborates with clients, users and consultants to both deliver “Total Patient Satisfaction,” and advance innovative healthcare delivery concepts.


In her new role as Healthcare Practice Leader, Burnette will have responsibility for the strategic growth of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic practice; and as a member of Cannon Design’s national healthcare practice, she will be lending her talents and experience to assignments nationwide—bringing an innovative approach that supports the unique and ever-changing character of healthcare.

Prior to joining Cannon Design, Burnette served as principal for the architectural and planning firm of Marshall Craft Associates, Inc. in Baltimore, Md.

Throughout her years in the Mid-Atlantic region, Burnette has led projects for numerous and varied healthcare clients, which include the National Institutes of Health, University of Virginia Medical System, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland Medical Center, and the United States Departments of the Army, Air Force and the Navy.

Current assignments for the firm include a new inpatient bed tower, emergency department, ICU and parking garage for Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.

A frequent presenter at industry forums and a recognized author of numerous papers, Burnette holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas.
