Bormann Named Healthcare Principal for HDR in Northeast

Bormann_Chris_HDRChris Bormann, AIA, LEED AP, has joined HDR Architecture as healthcare principal in the firm’s Princeton, NJ office. Bormann will be responsible for strengthening HDR’s presence in the healthcare field throughout the Northeast, focusing on both existing relationships as well as establishing new ones and expanding into new regions. He has a strong background and training in healthcare facility planning, master planning, design and project management.

“Chris is well-respected for his excellent communication and leadership skills, two traits that will serve him well in this new position,” noted Doug Wignall, director of HDR’s international healthcare program. “What is especially impressive is his passion for healthcare architecture and his knowledge of how quality design can positively improve medical outcomes.

“Until now, HDR has not had a significant healthcare presence in the Northeast,” added Wignall, “although our Science + Technology group is very well-known there. As the fields of life sciences, physical sciences and healthcare continue to converge,  I have no doubt Chris will quickly discover exciting new opportunities for HDR, and become a trusted advisor to both new and existing clients there as we vigorously explore ways to reshape the future of healthcare.”

Bormann is recognized for his knowledge of national healthcare trends, delivery methods, regional systems integration, and master planning strategies. His interest in healthcare planning and design began with a 12-month hospital administrative residency through the Office of the Army Surgeon General, during which he was trained on the design and construction of large hospital projects. A graduate of Princeton University, Bormann received formal training in hospital operations, programming, planning and design with a Master’s degree in Healthcare Architecture from Clemson University.

Most recently, Bormann managed Perkins + Will’s healthcare practice in its New York, N.Y. and Philadelphia,  Pa. offices.
