Fort Benning, Turner Break Ground on $333M Martin Army Community Hospital
FORT BENNING, Ga. — Fort Benning broke ground recently on the new $333.4-million Martin Army Community Hospital. Turner Construction Company and Ellerbe Becket are partnering on the project. Construction on the 745,000-square-foot facility has begun and is expected to be completed by January 2014.
Congressman Sanford Bishop was among the VIPs attending the groundbreaking. Other attendees included Marty Miller, Project Manager for Turner Construction, and Koji Nishimura, commander of Martin Army Community Hospital.
“Turner Construction has the specialized abilities needed to construct a building like the Martin Army Community Hospital, one that meets the very stringent requirements the Army sets for a facility of this type,” said Shannon Hines, senior vice president and general manager for Turner Construction in the southeast.
The new hospital will incorporate the latest technological advances in medical facilities and equipment. The objective is to elevate the quality of life for soldiers, veterans and families.
