Riverview Medical Center Announces $500,000 Donation

Gift will continue momentum of the newly announced center for surgical excellence at Riverview

RED BANK, N.J. — Riverview Medical Center announced a $500,000 charitable contribution to the hospital from The DiPiero Family. The donation will further support the construction of Riverview’s new 22,000-square-foot center for surgical excellence, a project which will allow patients to receive advanced surgical procedures close to home, without having to travel to New York City or elsewhere. This latest gift is one of several significant contributions the DiPiero family has made to Riverview Medical Center.

Domenic DiPiero, newly appointed chairman of the Riverview Medical Center Foundation board, has served as a trustee of Riverview since 2005. He is the founder of Newport Capital Group, an investment management firm.

“My family and I are so proud to support Riverview Medical Center in this way, as Riverview has been our family’s hospital for more than three decades,” said Domenic. “We are delighted and privileged to be able to have an impact on the health care of our community through this gift, as well as my role as chairman of the RMC Foundation Board,” he says. “I look forward to what the future will bring in terms of continued and increased support for this outstanding Medical Center and in turn, the many patients they serve. Riverview is creating a center that reflects the generosity and strength of our growing community to the benefit of countless families.”

The center for surgical excellence at Riverview will include: Two sophisticated specialty surgical suites, renovated post-anesthesia care area, relocated and renovated same-day surgery suite, and a state-of-the-art conference and educational center.

“We are so very grateful to the DiPiero family for making this commitment to Riverview Medical Center,” says David Flood, president of the Meridian Health Foundation. “Their support over the years has been critical to the success of growing the Medical Center. We are also excited that Domenic has accepted the position of chairman of the Riverview Medical Center Foundation board.  His youth, keen business acumen and generosity combine to create a model leader within the increasingly vital philanthropic community to which we belong.”

Over the past three years, Riverview Medical Center’s surgical volume has grown by more than 20 percent and has created a need to improve and enhance current operations. As a result of the expansion, Riverview expects to handle 445 new surgical cases, a 5.5 percent growth by 2013.
“This significant gift will be instrumental in growing our hospital and enhancing our center for surgical excellence for the benefit of our patients and the community,” says Tim Hogan, FACHE, president of Riverview Medical Center. “This generous level of support acknowledges the fact that Riverview Medical Center is one of the state’s leading medical facilities with many advancements on the horizon.”
