Thanks to the generosity of the community, major donors, and employees of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, the hospital surpassed the $5 million goal of its five-year capital campaign to fund the hospital’s new wing, recently named the Bertram and Althea Lank Clinical Center.
“The hospital’s goal was to raise $5 million over five years,” said Richard W. Davis, Chair, Board of Trustees and Chair, BID-Needham Capital Campaign. “In spite of a bad economy we raised just over $6 million. I think this is a clear sign our community is with us in our efforts to provide the best medical care close to home.”
The south wing expansion, which includes a brand new Emergency Department and a new all private room inpatient floor, is now the Bertram and Althea Lank Clinical Center thanks to their generous donation to the hospital.
In addition the Tanger Family, Alexander and Brenda Tanger, and Woody Tanger contributed $100, 000 on the last day of the campaign.
Generous sponsors and attendees to last weekend’s Gala raised another $300, 000.Co-chaired by Needham residents Kimberly and Michael Lombard and Krista and Stephen Vanourny, more than 400 people from Needham and surrounding communities contributed to the campaign through ticket and raffle sales, a silent auction and a live auction.
“We are so grateful for all contributions, big and small,” said BID-Needham President and CEO Jeffrey Liebman. “Everything adds up. It’s the total that allows us to expand our services and ensure that we will always be here for you.”
