SANTA ROSA, Calif. — TLCD Architecture, a team of architects, interior designers, and collaborators designing community-oriented projects throughout Northern California, announced the opening of the new hospital tower at Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center.

TLCD Architecture worked collaboratively with HMH Builders and Kaiser Permanente to deliver an attractive, high performance building that facilitates quality, patient-centered care and service. With an open floor plan that locates nurse’s stations closer to patient rooms and specialized areas dedicated to state-of-the-art medical technology, patients receive a personal and positive healthcare experience.

“TLCD Architecture worked on this project for seven years, and we were delighted to help Kaiser Santa Rosa turn their program and vision into a truly remarkable hospital. Through a rigorous design process we were able to incorporate all of the technical elements of the project into a beautiful healing environment. It’s very satisfying to be involved with projects like the hospital expansion that have such a positive effect on our local community,” says Jason Brabo, Principal at TLCD Architecture.

Designed to promote a calm and healing environment, the 146,400 square foot expansion includes private patient rooms that provide comfortable spaces for family members to visit and rest. The soothing color palette and careful selection of artwork by local artists enhance the patient experience by evoking the beauty of Sonoma County. “Patients love the new rooms – an emergency department patient who wasn’t feeling too well, perked up with a smile when told she was the first patient,” says Judy Coffey, Kaiser Sr. Vice President.

In addition to a comprehensive electronic health record system, the hospital expansion adds an interventional radiology (IR) suite, and significantly expands the emergency department to ensure more space and shorter waits for the more than 137,000 members that Kaiser serves.
